[Español abajo] The City of Healdsburg is offering a simple way to manage your energy and get rewarded — all by using your smart thermostat.
We’ve partnered with Optiwatt to launch the Home Energy Load Management Program, and you can start earning right away:
- 💰 $50 incentive just for enrolling your smart thermostat
- 🔁 $10 per thermostat every quarter for active participation
Here’s how it works:
- Connect your smart thermostat to Optiwatt (Google Nest, Ecobee, or Honeywell)
- Set your temperature preferences in Optiwatt for the daily 5-8pm events and your thermostat will adjust slightly to reduce strain on the grid
- You’ll stay comfortable, and you can always opt out — but:
- ✅ You can only opt out up to 3 times per quarter to stay eligible for your quarterly incentive
- 🚫 An "opt out" means:
- Clicking “opt out” in the app
- Or manually adjusting your thermostat during an event in a way that uses more electricity (e.g., turning it cooler in the summertime during 5-8pm)
Ready to join? It’s fast, free, and good for the community.
Don’t have a smart thermostat yet? Healdsburg Electric income-qualified CARE customers may be eligible for a smart thermostat rebate. Find out more here.
Thanks for supporting a greener, more resilient Healdsburg.
