Project: Ward Street Neighborhood Improvements Project ST009
Description:
The Ward Street Neighborhood Improvements Project includes an evaluation of the existing infrastructure within the roadways of Adeline Way, Ward Street, Palm Avenue, and South University Street and the development of a comprehensive plan outlining the needed public improvements. The completed plan will be used as a basis to implement various improvements within the Ward Street Neighborhood. Constructing the needed improvements will help improve walking and biking in the area by eliminating rough pavement surfaces, ponded water, and damaged and missing walkways to create direct connections to the City’s downtown area, schools and surrounding areas.
The first phase of the Project is the preparation of a Needs Assessment to identify missing areas of sidewalk and assess the pavement, utilities and drainage issues throughout the neighborhood. After public input on the Needs Assessment, a project will be designed to help address the identified deficiencies.
The Needs Assessment is anticipated to be completed in Summer 2026. Public outreach meetings will be scheduled to review the components identified in the Needs Assessment and gather input on what improvements are recommended for the construction project. Design of the Project is expected to start in Fall 2026, with construction following later in the year.
